Is there anything cooler than a Black vampire? That is a trick question; no, there is not. Blade, Vampire in Brooklyn, Count Chocula. The list goes on. At BlizzCon 2026, Overwatch was announced to get its very own Black vampire in the Talon support character Doctrine. Get ready to welcome a new chocolate vamp to the blood-soaked tapestry. Doctrine and welcoming new Black characters to the fold

If there is one thing we love here at Super. Black., it's celebrating the creation of new Black characters. Overwatch has always been good at developing a diverse group of characters for players to use. Especially those with darker skin tones. With Pharah, Baptiste, Sojourn, Sierra, Doomfist, Symmetra, Lucio, and now Doctrine, Overwatch has a wide variety of Black and brown villains and heroes to main.

Doctrine details

This new vampire-inspired character is a Support hero. His kit is meant to be the "ultimate vampire fantasy," allowing players to "manipulating lifeforce with his scepter, infusions, and bat-like drones." He has a pre-existing relationship with the embattled Talon leader, Doomfist. This ties directly into the new remote Icelandic prison Escort map, Watchpoint: Grímsvötn, where Doomfist frees his batty pal. It also turns out he is a fantastic Doomfist support. Go figure.

I don't play Overwatch anymore, but I will certainly re-download and give Doctrine a try. Who knows, he may be the character to reignite my love of the game. I am a Support main, after all...
